GPOPS-II - Next-Generation Optimal Control Software

GPOPS-II Release 7 Now Available

GPOPS-II Release 7 (July 2026) is now available. This new release contains the following new features:

  • Inclusion of the Sparse Optimization Suite (SOS) NLP Solvers SPRNLP and BARNLP
  • A newly developed partitioned Implicit Runge-Kutta method that employs collocation at Legendre-Gauss-Lobatto points
  • A new scaling algorithm that assists when solving ill-conditioned optimal control problems
While fundamentally this new release operates nearly exactly the same as previous versions, the names of several options within GPOPS-II have changed in order to accommodate these new options. An updated user's guide has been posted on this website that reflects the changes to the interface.
